I can’t recall the exact detail of your face

I can’t recall the exact detail of your face

I can’t remember the way the sun hit your eyes and made them light

I couldn’t focus on the words coming from your lips

Nor the feeling of your lips on mine

I was distracted by the pine trees we sat under

By the way the sun shone through weed leaves on the ground, giving them brighter highlights and more prominent shadows

The way the breeze shifted the pine needles back and forth

I paid more attention to my limited vision,

half my view obscured by the dew on my eyelashes which kept pouring and pouring out
