I CAN’T BREATHE

by Debi Lyn 05/31/21 @ 9:06 am

My life feels like a prison - I JUST! WANT! OUT!

Open up the door - please LET ME OUT!

I can't breathe in here; sometimes I'd rather die.

Instead I'm hyperventilating; tell me why.

Is it from too little, or too much, air?

In any case, I'm choking, and no one seems to care.

Reaching a few goals is never enough

when there's so much more of the "little" stuff.

Running round and round like a circus in my mind,

The elephants are loose and the monkeys cease to grind.

I'm overwhelmed and paralyzed of course...

the proverbial headless chicken - what could be worse!

Can't see, can't speak; can't hear, can't smell.

All I got is jumbled feelings - isn't that just swell.
