I am a Woman of my Word

I am a Woman of my Word;

I hold my mouth shut-

as all good little girls do-

Until I must speak,

uttering

the final breath.

I am a Woman of my Word-

but some Words go unsaid,

Chained in my locked voice box,

Bubbling at the tip of my

tongue.

Yes,

I am a Woman of my Word,

but when it is up against yours,

Scratched as it made its way

Up your throat,

past your adam's apple

(an apple provided by Eve)-

my Words fall flat.
