I Am What You Are

Location

Who am I?
Maybe I’ll never know.
Maybe one day,
I’ll have to let go.

Let go of it all,
Let go of my life;
My love,
And all of my strife.

But, these words I truly mean:

That was my everything,
That was my life.
Love,
Strife,
Joy,
Anger,
Betrayal;

This is my all. This is me.
This is everything I’ll ever be.
It’s not my name,
It’s not my face.
It’s everything that I embrace.

This is everything I am,
This is everything you are,
And I can promise you,
That these words are true.

It’s in the words you say,
If I may,
It’s the light in your eyes,
When the days take you by surprise.
It’s the way you smile,
When you do the things you haven’t done in a while.

This is what connects us all,
Because we are the same,
And different in every way.
