I am not a product of my environment

Born into sin

Raised in Hell

Only two options, dead or in jail.

High school dropouts

Teenage pregnancies

This is what my environment expects of me

Struggling and hardships

Delinquencies and debt

In stone my fate was set

Trying not repeat history

It took a lot of prayer

With the changes I’ve made, my future would be rare

Into the books

Out of the streets

For a better me, my heart competes

University acceptance

College degrees

To the door of my future I’ve always had the keys

Years of irony

Sudden enlightenment

I have discovered, I am not a product of my environment
