I Am Chosen

I Am Chosen

"I am the Way, the Truth and the Life..."

I am the lost, the lie, and the dead.

"I am the bread of Life; you will not hunger, you will never thirst.”

I am the hungry, the thirsty, and full of dread.

“You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.”

I am the student, wishing to ascend.

I am the Alpha and the Omega.” The beginning and end.

You’ve called me your own. Your child. Your friend.

Where was your presence? Why couldn’t I see?

Where was your voice? Were you calling to me?

When I was in the dirt, and when I was in sin.

When I am imperfect- are you calling me, then?

“Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last…”

You’ve built me a future. Cleansed me of my past.

You’ve called my name and you’ve lifted me higher.

You give me more than I’ve ever required.

And yet my faith has become frozen,

“For many are called, but few are chosen…”

So you took me through trials and tribulation.

You built up my strength, my wisdom, my patience.

You gave to me scars and things to recall.

And you give me strength to walk and not crawl.

Though my hope died you resurrected my Spirit.

And you spoke to me even when I wouldn’t hear it.

You proclaimed my name when I proclaimed yours.

You made water solid so I could walk its shores.

You take me to the world so I can tell them your story.

You let me tell mine and it brings you glory.

Through my own life you bring other to you.
And through your grace you’ve pulled me through.

So though this world is cold, my faith is not frozen.

I’m not just called.  I want to be Chosen.
