I am...

I am a Queen...

Descending from a great land

Where the sun shines

And the people's skin are summertime fine

The beat of the drums

And the natural hum

The sweet of the air

The kinks of the hair

It's all who I am..

I am a natural being

Created by the Devine

History as rich as wine

The cradle of life

Overcoming strife

I've seen struggling times

And been in some jams

But I've surpassed them all

Because of who I am...

Who are you?

To tell me I can't

Can't you see I'm a Queen

It may seem mean

But you see

I have a dream

To be a success

It may come with some stress

But nevertheless

I'll sort out the mess

And now I regress

It's simply who I am

Magnificent and glam

All shall marvel

At the things I'll do

You doubt that I can

Because you misconstrue

Your thoughts of me

It's easy to see

It's harder to feel

The power invested in She...

That's who I am

I am a Queen

Believing in dreams

A smile that beams

It's not what it seems

They do not deem Me

As a Queen

How obscene...

Determination is my theme

And it shall be streamed

For all to see

Who I am...

A daughter

A black girl overcoming obstacles and stereotypes. Don't believe the hype, I am not the type. I will wipe all of your minds of who you think I am. Just concede, and say "Yes Ma'am."

Confidence is key to my success

But I still WILL maintain my humbleness

Knowing I can

Even though it's hard

May change the way that you regard

Me, I, She, a Queen...

You see, now doesn't that have a nice ring?
