From Hurt and Sadness to Freedom

We start to date our third year of high school.

Everyone nominatd us Prom King and Queen; which was cool.

Senor year came around and all the girls wanted our relationship

They watched you as you ate your chips and dip.

But that was seventeen years ago.

Now you hit me evertime I tell you no.

You want more kids knowing my body can't barely hold a fetus.

When you go to work I pray to God and ask "What happened to us?"

You come home with a gift bag and try to win me over

But silly him, I'm pretty clever

I try to leave, but he promises change

My stomach is telling me something strange

Ten plus years has past and now

I tell my story and I made tears flow and raised eyebrows

Thank God I've made it out of that relationship as soon as I did

Because the negative...God forbid

My Chldren were my strengh and motivation

And God's blessings were my salvaion

I am that woman who walked in all the shoes of every domestic abused woman

I am that woman who lied on the floor; hing from the fist of a man

I am that woman who got out with a lot of support from God and oldest daughter

Now my children sees me as a fighter, lover, and most importantly a mother.
