Humans Cut the willow tree

What happened to the trees that used to grow here,

Tall and proud, the rulers of this noman's land?

To the wild flowers tangled in weeds and grass,

To the deer, who took their young to pass

By the willow on the banks of the creek?

What happened to the wolves that roamed,

Their fierce leader howling to the moon,

The cubs they raised from pup to beta,

Their pawprints in the sand?

What happened to the bears,

That knew where to catch the biggest fish,

That climbed the trees,

And scratched their backs,

Here, in these dense woods?

What happened to the minks,

That watched with weary eyes,

And slid between the leafy fronds,

Under the willow tree?

What about the bee hive,

Full of bees that hummed

As they flew to the flower beds,

Under the willow tree?

Where did the Native Tribes go?

That took care of the woods

And the animals?

Where did their song and dance go?

Where did their lives go?

Why can I close my eyes

And picture such a perfect world?

And when I wake,

It is all gone,

This rainforest

We once called home.

The deer have been hunted,

The wolves have been chased away,

The bears have been driven out,

The minks have become fur coats,

The bees have died out, because of cellphones,

And we swat them away,

The Native Tribes have faded to memories and relics,

And those left living have lost their ways

Or have been shunned to a little corner,

And where have all those trees gone?

Well, they've gone away.

So many houses,

So many roads,

So many cars filling the air with smoke.

Where has it gone?

It's gone.

It's been replaced by money,

Greed,

Jealosy,

Fame,

Wealth,

Poverty,

Humans.
