Hubris - We Need To Let It Go
Dear America,
I find that we are not color-blind in a nation; nor are we race-blind.
We live in America, a nation that follows a set of rules written on a slab of paper some 230 years ago.
We live around others of different descent,
Because we all came from a different place.
So, why do we push away those who came to this glorified country
For a better start in life, to escape persecution, to give their kids an opportunity; something they as parents couldn't have when they were younger?
We don't welcome them into our home with open arms, but rather with contempt, hate, anger; all because they are different.
This is not the land I know.
This is a nation who has lost and forgotten their history.
A broken nation shackled to a wall,
A wall of their victories, ego, resilience, and power, but never their faults and insecurities.
We the People need to break away from that wall, the wall that severs the humanity and sympathy we have for others,
The wall that turns our fellow immigrants away from escape, that takes away the rights of our people; the wall that will gradually lead to our downfall.
HUBRIS
We live off of it,
Like a child who just won an award, and shows it off to whoever, whenever they can.
Everyone should be treated equally, because we are all cut from the same cloth, just in a different pattern.
We the People need to educate ourselves on the notion that a couple hundred years ago, we were just like these immigrants; we were looking for a place to call home without judgements, a place of liberty, a place of independence.
As a whole, we need to pass the torch, and accept those that come to America for a better future, because it happened to us.
America, we need to come bac to our roots.
Sincerely,
A Disappointed American
