Two birds of a feather that flock together
The Garfunkel to my Simon
When the world is a bee's nest, buzzing with anger
We laugh and dust our shoulders in tandem

Together, we are much like a carrot and pea
I can count on her, and she can count on me
You see, at times we are identical
Separated at birth
And at others, we are opposites
A disparity so clear
As to be seen from space to earth
Regardless, we connect like two polars
A North to a South
A magnet to a fridge
And the picture between them
is us, frozen in that moment
Making the kind of faces your mother warns you about
"If you keep doing that it'll get stuck that way"
Dependent on eachother like bones to cartiledge

A bond so strong
It eats nails for breakfast
No milk included
We've been through thick and we've been through thin:

For boys have intruded
There have been periods spent deluded
Refusing to speak, pretending we don't care
Over arguments petty
I won't get specific but there have been many
(In all honestly I don't remember them)
They really don't matter- it's like losing a penny

Sometimes we clash
A suit of armor to a sword
The sun to your eyes
Vinegar to water
But at the end of the road
The both of us know
That one will be there for the other
In times of trouble, I can always call her

There's emotional pain that we've both endured
The loss of a lover
Feeling hopelessly alone
A dysfunctional family
Being unsure of what to call home
But there are few existing ailments that a laugh shared hasn't cured

Yet even more inconceivable
The passing of loved ones
Or the death of her father
As she tries to stay strong
While I offer my shoulder

Our friendship braces the storm
A captain with his ship
strong as an ox
brave as bear
mischievous as a fox

With college around the corner
Most would worry
Of drifting apart
Or slitting in two
Abrupt like ripped paper
But I know that regardless of what we do
We will always be friends
It's in the stars
So I don't take those concerns to heart

If anything I know I will shed a tear
When the first Friday comes
And I can't simply text "Hey, let's go to the mall"
Or "Let's watch scary movies"
"sleep over at your house?"
Yes, in the upcoming transition,
These memories of high school I will always hold dear

Despite what newly gained distance will soon come our way
We hold our heads high
Ready to embrace the future
As it barrels forward
Prepared or not
Refraining to feel the slightest of dismay
Secure in the fact that we can call on another
Like the mighty Thor to his Hammer of Truth
For one, the other is here to stay
Unlike coins in pockets
We will never shake loose

Seasons have changed
Years have gone by
Like cars on a highway
We've known each other for a long time
Almost ten years
We plan to stay
Like two birds of a feather
Flocked together
Never estranged

No matter what life has thrown in our way
What misfortune has blasted
Or shot in our direction
We've always got past it
This is why our friendship has always lasted
Why we cannot be led astray

This will, without a doubt, continue
As time goes on
She's the big band orchestra to my Frank Sinatra song
We even have the same name, so the Fates must agree
I only made this poem ryhme, cause that's how she'd like it to be
She is my best friend
And that, folks, is The End.
