How to be flawless
Location
Flawless
and
Perfect
That is what we all aim to be,
To be considered unblemished by society,
but I know for a fact that
that will never be me.
The point of this poem is to discuss my perfection,
but everyday day of my life
society continues to scream
at my face that I will never "fit in."
That I'm either too fat or too thin
That the A on my math test determines how well I will do in life
That COLLEGE
COLLEGE
COLLEGE.
This generation of selfies and vine
Telling me that I should waste my precious time
Showing off to people who would never even talk to me in person.
Because I can only be complimented when hidden behind a screen, right?
And the famous I'm supposed to
look up to
Those "perfect human beings"
Send us the "inspiring message"
That the meaning of life is to party as much as we can,
and that a one night stand
always comes before true love.
But let me tell you something.
When compared to the vast universe
This earth is nothing
but a speck of dust
floating in a beam of light.
Let me tell you
that in the end,
it won't matter what my GPA turns out to be,
or how many likes my selfie receives.
Because what truly matters
Is the God that can hold
trillions of light years in his hand
The God who made this speck of dust we call our home.
We need to look up from our smart phones and realize that we are not alone
when it comes to asking how to be unblemished.
The answer
is to simply absorb inside
That we are loved by someone who died for us because we are His
Perfect
