How America Makes Me Feel!
America, America
Oh sweet America, where dreams supposedly rings from every door.
You make the false notion that all is good and dandy,
But yet your misconstrue methods only obfuscate me more.
You did all the nice things like get a black president and accept black hair
But what about the rest of us blacks and minorities sitting in despair?
You tried to console us with need blind tuition and affirmative action
But this only made things get spicy
You made me question my identify
I am a civilian or a foe?
Showering me with a gazillion amount scholarships
As forgiveness money, for your pass sinful ways
Oh America, oh America is this what freedom brings
Crooked smiles and a shit load of money?
Of course I am thankful for it, who wouldn’t be?
But all I request is true civility!
I don’t want my hair liked because it’s different
I want it liked because it’s me
I don’t want my president to be re-elected again because he’s black,
But because he’s a man
America, oh America
Your cajolery is like a crime
You stick minority faces on college websites and profiles all the time
To fool me into believing that you actually changed
Change and moving forward is definitely good,
But all I ask is to not be seen as another minority, given the majority seat in your all famous twisted ride.
