Hope Within

Location

Bright lights shining in the morning sky.

The smell of paper and pencils lingers in the air.

The welcome of starting a new school year.

Sitting in a desk all alone, wondering, thinking.

Mind racing with thoughts and images.

Running into the bright lights.

Hands tremble, teeth chatter, palms sweating.

Fear of the unknown sets in.

Door opens, papers slammed “BOOM” onto the desk.

Packets given out, “quiet no talking”, silence.

One, two, and three hours pass by.

Leave and repeat.

One, two, and three weeks go by.

Still bright lights shining in the morning sky.

Mind wonders, and wonders why.

Why do the bright lights shine in the morning sky?

When nothing is left, to wonder why, to live, to cry, and just die.

Bright lights will still be shinning in the morning sky.

No hope, no reason why, and darkness in your eyes.

Just remember there will always be the bright lights shining in the morning sky.
