Hope For A Teenager

Something to reassure yourself as a teenager is that life

is

in fact worth the burdens that you wake up for where you think

Oh

dear god, no. I have yet to deal with this I feel as if my life is constantly on

hold for happiness.”

Another thing is that (from the wise words of our mothers) time heals all wounds. Oh believe me, please, because here’s why:

You don’t feel it, but our galaxy moves across the universe at a thousand kilometers a second, so while the minutes feel like years

those minutes are already hundreds of thousands of kilometers behind you in the universe that we’re traveling across

And you don’t feel it.

Now I did ask myself: Why does the galaxy keep moving, why does time keep passing, but blood, eventually, stop flowing?

Well it’s same reason why a star, eventually, dies off. Death is natural, but not for a young, chaotic star like you.

And feeling like your plowing pillars through purgatory and don’t know when you’ll get to heaven is exactly how an athlete felt before he was officially an Olympic athlete, triumphantly

It is how my father felt for six years before he earned my mother’s hand in my marriage, gratefully

But you know it just might be how you feel after eighteen years when you’ve realized that wasted your youth away by wallowing in “Why me, why oh why” from the heart-aching yet short-lived consequences of sweet, sweet teenage romance and rebellion

Sweet, sweet teenage romance and rebellion

…which you’ll never be able to taste again, unfortunately

Well, what are you waiting for? The universe is still moving—do not waste a day.

Promise me that when you wake up in the morning that you will get up and tell yourself “You know what? It’s going to be a good-ass day. Yeah, it’s raining, but soon we’re going to see a big, beautiful rainbow!”

And here’s a tip: You may not be religious but if a stranger tells you that Jesus Loves You, appreciate them for the effort of wanting to let you know that there is hope somewhere.

Of course, you may find that Hope is not necessarily from a Bible. For me, Hope is getting up to see the sunrise and realizing that someone or something is giving me another chance.

Hope is the first time that I told myself: “You know what, if I die soon, you can bet it was a freak accident or a murder, because I am in love with life today.”

Hope is allowing yourself to have another bowl of ice cream.

Hope is a fresh cup of coffee help you get started.

Hope is an adopted shelter dog.

Hope is a laugh, a smile. The first glimmer in your eye after a few months or years.

Hope is when you first realize that something is broken and you know it doesn't feel right so you want to know "How do I fix this?"

And loss of Hope should be the answer when you ask: Why does the galaxy keep moving, why does time keep passing, but blood, eventually, stop flowing?
