Hope Is All I Need

"I love you more than anything,"

He said after he hit me.

"I hate your guts; you're worthless,"

She said after she hurt me.

"You're ugly and yu're fat,"

They said all filled with glee.

"Did you like how that felt?"

He said after he raped me.

"You're not smart enough,"

The teacher said when he betrayed me.

"You're not good enough,"

Said the voice inside of me.

But then one day I realized,

There is hope out there for me.

Because for every painful word,

Was a word just filled with beauty.

"I love you more than anything,"

Another said this time, and meant it.

"You're inspiring and meaningful,"

They said when it was needed.

"You're beautiful and simply you,"

They said encouraging me.

"Do you like how that felt?"

He said after he held me.

"You're going to change the world,"

The teacher said as he believed in me.

"You can do this,"

Said the voice inside of me.

For hope is all I need,

When times of trouble come to me.

Hope is all I need,

When it feels the world is against me.

For hope is all I need,

When troubles have all fleed from me.

Hope is all I need,

When it feels the world stands right by me.

For hope is all I need,

Through all the love bestowed on me,

Hope is all I need,

Every day; every hour every second; always.
