Homesickness

There was once

A red leaf

That fell from

A great big tree.

It blew through the wind

And traveled far across the sky

Until the red leaf

Couldn't travel anymore.

The red leaf

Landed at my feet

Tired and weary

Ready to be crushed.

Yet red leaves

Are special

They remind Someone

Of home.

And they remind me

That even though I

Am nearly forgotten I

Can do something, too.

So red leaf,

I will not crush you,

I will not break you

I will take you instead.

I will

Bring you

To Someone

Who cares.

And I

Will leave

Without

A word.
