Homesick
Location
I miss hugs and kisses,
I miss the warmth of a loving embrace,
I miss a home cooked meal loaded with butter and seasoning,
I miss arguments that always end in tears and hugs,
But most of all I miss Granny.
I miss cold mornings huddled around a heater,
I miss the morning news and a bowl of cereal,
I miss that satisfied feeling after a hard day's work and sipping lemonade at base a tree with the ones you love,
But most of all I miss Granny.
I miss camping in winter in a tent that let in more rain than it kept out,
I miss marshmallows and hot dogs cooked on a campfire,
I miss the smell of burning leaves and wood on a cold winter night,
But most of all I miss Granny.
I miss the smell of crushed pine needles,
I miss the fresh scent of clothes without the taint of cigarettes,
I miss the sound of the wind in the trees,
I miss sitting on the porch in a thunderstorm listening to the rain,
But most of all I miss Granny.
I miss cuddling at night with a warm ball of fur,
I miss planting a garden and trying to make it grow,
I miss playing video games in the dead of a winter's night covered with a blanket on the porch,
But most of all I miss Granny.
I miss wrinkled hands always there to help,
I miss bright blue eyes twinkling with laughter,
I miss a toothless smile always ready to appear,
I miss gnarled feet barely able to stand,
And most of all I miss Granny.
