Hold On, Friend

Hold on, friend.

It's 6 P.M.

You're going to stand through the worst weather.

But we'll get through it together.

I promise you this one thing.

This one thing.

We're going to get through this together.

Even if it takes forever.

The rain's going to get harder.

But we might as well play in puddles.

It is a type of silent solitude I can try to give you.

Hold on, friend.

It's 8 P.M.

Your smile could illuminate the room.

It lights up my entire soul.

The smile that makes ice cream taste better.

The smile that makes the grass feel softer.

The smile that makes the mountains seem more beautiful.

The smile that appears when I take you out to coffee.

And the smile that follows me wherever I go.

The smile that is contagious.

I watch it appear when we play video games together on a late night.

It seems to melt the world away.

Accompanied with your laughter.

I feel at ease.

Hold on, friend.

It's 10 P.M.

Your hands were intertwined with mine.

Gripping onto dear life it seems.

As if I was your life.

These hands were the ones that drove us in the late night car rides.

Or the ones that pointed at the star-sprinkled night sky.

Remember those late nights?

With those kept in the vault that has my memories.

I could easily just die happy.

Easily.

Hold on, friend.

It's midnight.

Your tears broke me.

Streaming down your face.

I couldn't hold you enough to hold back the flood.

But I tried.

I tried.

My arms are here to shelter you from your evils.

I know I can't kill them.

I would if I could.

I am your knight in shining armor.

Even if I don't have a weapon or chainmail.

I'm trying my best.

You just have to hold on for me.

Hang onto me.

Hold on, friend.

It's 2 A.M.

Your warmth was all I needed.

It was all you needed.

You pressed into me like a shield running into battle.

Another night we evaded from your demons.

I know you're Jekyll and you fight your Hyde.

I'm proud of you that you are able to fight them.

I'm more proud of you than anything in the world.

I feel you slipping into your sleep.

On a one way trip to Sleepytime Junction.

I'll stay here.

I won't leave.

Hold on, friend.

It's 4 A.M.

Your hair wrapped around my fingers.

A heavy rain pounds against the rooftop.

It puts me at ease.

But I see the demons in the shadows.

It's too late, but I can't sleep.

I feel like Hyde that is taking over Jekyll.

I have my enemies that I need to fight.

You are the one thing that keeps me down here on my feet.

I couldn't thank you enough for that.

I just wish I was a different person.

Wish I wasn't like this.

It would make things easier on you.

I wish.

Hold on, friend.

It's 6 A.M.

Your smell lingers on me.

It was the proof that you stayed by my side.

All these years, you have stayed by my side.

I hear you in the shower, I hear the warm sounds of the coffee maker.

Sometimes I wonder why you stayed.

For if you are Jekyll and I am Hyde, it's disaster, right?

But there are nights where those things don't matter.

Like this night.

It didn't matter who we are.

Or who we were.

And to that.

That is a pretty awesome thought to come by.

The memories we have made, the experiences we have had.

I couldn't trade those in the world.

Never.

Hold on, my dearest friend.

It's 8 A.M.

Your eyes look at me with a warm look.

That was all it took.

All it took.

My heart seemed to come alive again.

We packed up our bags once more.

To go on another adventure together.

Even if we are ying and yang.

There are just some people in the world that can reside in your heart.

It won't matter who they are.

Or what they are.

As long as you smile through it.

And have a fantastic time.

Even if the night seems at its worst,

The sun will rise again, my dearest friend.
