Hit the Books

I come home, from a long day at school
Nothing in sight, except for the dreaded pile of books sitting on the counter stool,
What motivation do I have,
What is the point of this?
A college career at stake, one to create a better life,
For myself and those around me.
I have to hit the books.
My pride soars while I master the knowledge that will come in handy in a few short months,
When I take off from the nest, and start my own life.
In order to sustain the high quality that I strive for,
I have to hit the books.
