His one mission

"They fell from the sky.
All I can do is watch,
as they lights fell.

Earth was set ablaze.
All I could do was watch,
with my mouth ajar.

Through the o-zone they came
rapidly, with the intent to destroy
everything they touched.

Craters ruin the landscape,
and fires burn the vegetation.
Creatures scurry away.

The inevitable has come.
The earth is burning.
The animals are dying.

Soon there will be nothing,
except the charred remains
and ashes of civilization lost.

Except for him.
That man who sat on the
highest cliff, and watched.

He watched the end unfold.
Not with a smile, nor with a frown.
His purpose was to observe.

To observe, and nothing more.
Now that his mission is complete.
He can return home to the Heavens.

Till the next time, that is."
