His Cruelest Gift

Sat, 10/05/2013 - 20:27 -- JPB

What cruel sight hath He given us now?
Has He brought sweet death upon me now?
Or maybe my true love to hear my song,
Even though all would tag our relationship wrong?
No He hath given us eyes to see on this day,
What great visions lie waiting to be sought out on our way.
But He hath no mercy upon us as we demand,
Given us beauty and lack thereof to stand.
Such a cruel, cruel fate He has given in love?
Some call him God, a being that watches from above.
Leave us here to suffer in a world of putrid design,
Just to show a power so great, so divine.
Let us not front at the life He has given us,
But let us move on to find something in which to trust.
A new life, new love, a meaning of such and so,
With this bid of farewell off you shall go.
