For many decades we had searched.
On the edge of our seats we perched,
To hear what had been researched.
Hearing the news, we all lurched.

The words would excite and astound.
The Higgs Boson had been found!
To the Standard Model this was profound.
It looked like the theory had gained ground.

The way some particles’ symmetries interact,
The particle’s lack of mass should be a fact.
There was mass so the idea was wracked.
By the Higgs Field masslessness is backed.

Being exciting to scientists in every field,
This new knowledge we would soon wield.
In coming days we will keep our eyes peeled,
In hopes that new knowledge will be revealed.
