Hide and go seek

An innocent childs game

We all have played that game

It was all fun and games

“It’s just a game we would all say”

No winners no losers

We were all the same

Always teaming up with each other

We would even team up with the person that had to find us

I think that was only me I would help them out

Both sides I would help

Regardless we always took  it as a game

Nothing serious just a same ‘ol game

But now that I’m growing I see how hide and seek plays into our lives

Think about it

With slavery either you were the owner of the slaves

Or you were the slave  following the rules

Or you could be the runaway slave that tries to hide from them

Hiding from the boss so you wouldn’t get caught and get thrown back away

Back To where you tried running away and tried to hide away from

As the years progressed we kept going at it with the racial issue

Slavery was abolished but it still manifested in our lives

If you were of color you had to follow the rules

And you had to hide your true self

Hide your beliefs because either you were wrong or breaking the rules

Hide yourself from being busted and hurt

The government became the ones who were always counting down to your last second to hide

And you , me, us the minorities we became the ones that have to hide

We hide from the reality because if not we were wrong

We have learned to hide or they would  come for us

We try to put our voice out there but they shut us down

They take advantage of us and then try to hide us

They hide our pain and what they do to us

They hide our reality so no one else sees it

Today in today’s society things are just adding up

They are still counting down to “warn” you before they put a bullet through you

And us well we keep being strong and try to hide our lives before they are taken

We hide not because we want to but because we have to

We hide so we don't get killed and when they ask why they say “because she/he/they were a threat to me”

We try to protest and peacefully gain equality

But we get pushed down and beaten and blamed

After the pain and everything they say it was our fault

It's our fault we got caUght

Like in hide and seek

If you don't have good hiding skills the adversary will come find you and take you out

Just Like in real life

Except regardless if we are educated or not ,skilled or not they still shut us out and blame us

Because they only see the surface assumption not the real us

Like in Hide and seek you just look out for something that looks like a hiding person

Just to bust them

If You really think about it

Hide and seek is our now everyday lifestyle

We hide but still try to make a change

While they Seek

They seek a way to shut us down

To neutralize us forever

It seem as if this game just never stops and just gets harder and harder

Each day

If This is our lifestyle

Then imagine how's it going to tbe for our children and their children and the coming generations

They will grow up playing hide and seek

Just to simply become professionals at it

This has been our reality this is our reality this will not be our reality

but for now
