Her World Left Behind

    A wall painted blue

With the slighted tint of grey

Opposite a jungle scene.

    The bedding is of lavender

With some curtains to match

Next to a basket woven with care

    The basket is left closed

The room is left empty

Wondering, "where has that child gone?"

    A seat in the classroom

The colors, with use, faded

A name on a roster, unchecked

A locker of candy apple red

With a heart on the lock

And a shelf, with letters, filled

    Secrets are shared by friends

But a link is left missing

Questions fly: "do you know where she is?"

    A tree on a hill

On the sunniest afternoon

A book sits on top of a root

The pages dance in the breeze

As the tale dances within

A tale of youthful fancies

    Tears fall fresh

Over the top of the hill

Her dearest cries "where are you now?"

    The void outside closes up

As the world adjusts to the loss

Patterns weave into place

    The void inside waxes

The pain grows imense

Rivers flowing of blue-grey

    Deep in a distant land

Doped, beaten, and used

Her pimp grins "where is your daughter? Forever gone!"
