Her Tree
Dear Him,
When you first fell in love this tree was planted. It sprouted hundreds of leaves. They were gorgeous...full of love. As You and Her grew together so did the tree. Its roots grew deeper in the ground and it grew more leaves, and they were gorgeous...just like Her..full of love. This tree seemed to be the most beautiful. Unstoppable...unbreakable...unfortunately though the tree that once was beautiful and alive started to crumble. She too lost Her leaves that made Her feel gorgeous...that made Her feel loved. With each tear She shed the tree lost a leaf. The leaves would fall with Her heart. Each time the tree's roots withdrew from the ground She withdrew Her emotions from You. The tree stopped growing so there'd be no leaves left to lose, but a few leaves remained. She thought without her emotions there'd be no tears to shed, but those feelings for You remained. Then one day the leaves started to grow back...the roots grew deeper. She stopped crying, and withdrawing Her emotions. This tree would stay in the garden, and She would stay with You. It didn't last long though...the tree was weakening, and this time faster. More leaves were falling..not one by one...piles of leaves were lost on the daily. While You jumped oblivious into the leaves She shed more tears...withdrew Her feelings even more than before. She cried because She loved You, but the leaves kept falling...the ones that made Her feel loved. Noone understood why She liked this tree, and She felt the same way about You. "Why does He love Me?", She constantly asked Herself. Yet She sits in Her room, staring out Her window. Watching as Her tree loses its leaves. As if it is an hourglass...not telling time, but how much She has left to lose. As each leaf falls She loses Herself..Her personality, love, self-esteem, and good state of mind. The roots grow weaker and so does Her heart. She fears one day the tree will be chopped, and everything about Her will be lost. Yet this tree still stands in the garden as she does every day. The tree shows no pain while she shows no emotion, but as long as there are still leaves on the tree...She will keep going, and loving You.
Yours,
Her
