Her Own Kind of Beautiful

Poetry is her own kind of beautiful

Actually she's a misfit

She doesn't need to wear the latest thing

She's comfortable in her own shoes

She does not have to speak slang or what some call too properly

She has her own language which is understood between herself and those who know her the best

She has her own flow, and she goes where she wants to go

She believes that better is to come, and she heals anything around her whether big or small

When she opens her mouth other listen to her words

Do not get confused about her she is a force to be reckoned with

Do not get on her bad side or she will spit out words that would make you choke beautifully on your own

Poetry is her own kind of beautiful

She doesn't have to dance or sing a certain way

She can be off-beat, or just sway

Poetry is for the misunderstood, the person just won't be heard

Now that I think about it, I realize why they say " the pen is mightier than than the sword"

Poetry has taught me to be unapologetically me

I can be a feminist in my own right

I now know that I don't have to put a filter on what God gave me

I can stand for what I want, and sit for what I don't

I can be loud, proud, and work

I am my own kind of beautiful, and Poetry has given me her word
