Her Dad

Dads are supposed to be a daughter's first love,

The ones they first see when they enter this world

The ones that are meant to protect them

The ones that read bedtime stories and kiss them goodnight.

But,

Her dad was the complete opposite,

The childhood she longed for,

Where she can be loved by her father,

Where he buys her loads of teddy bears,

Became impossible to even think of.

The first love of her life,

Was not what she expected,

Leaving bruises and scars on her,

Was all her father did.

Locked her away inside the closet,

With not even a single sliver of light.

Barely fed her,

Sometimes no food at all.

The first love of her life,

Turned out to be her worst nightmare.

Someone she could not recognize.

She wondered,

"What if my dad is angry at me?

Maybe I did something wrong, that's why he's punishing me?"

She blamed herself,

Feeling all horrible inside

And regretting whatever she did to make him upset.

Next thing you hear,

The sound of an ambulance.

The first love of her life,

Just became her last...
