The Helper

The screaming and crying.

The tears and fears.

The cold hospital hallways seem so long.

Children sticking close to whom they belong.

"Its ok" I will tell them,

and tell parents I will take care of their precious gem.

After I make them smile and laugh,

We will have fun and act silly like a giraffe.

Once they are ready under they will go,

off to dreamland where they pick flowers row by row.

Once they wake up they will be very tired.

Some medication may be required.

But, in due time they will feel as good as new

they won't have to say boo-hoo.

They will smile because they know

that they are all better and their face will be aglow.

They will give me a hug to say thank you,

and it warms my heart to that its true.

They are better and I helped to make it possible

for this child to get out of the hospital.
