Help a brother out as I scream and shout

Help a brother out as the police continue to put me in doubt

The police held me down as I said dont hurt me please

I begged and begged, then they shot me in the leg

They said it was my first warning but my mother is broken

No words were spoken

All this love she giving me, Im smothering and choking

Shes worried for my life, she's wondering if I'll make it right

Make it right in time before she's 90 years old and blind

So I try and try, I dont wanna see her cry

Now it's Sunday morning, mamas got a smile on her face

She cooked eggs, bacon, grits, and sausage

What she don't know is that I got a 40 on my waist.

I went outside and nearly lost it

The color of my skin may have caused it

There they were, standing at my door. Tackled me to the floor

I almost hit the Earth's core.

My mama crying "let my baby go, let him go"

When they let me go, a few months later there was a funeral in the snow.

They let me go into the sky, I'm soaring higher than high.

I made it to Heaven's gate.

Then something told me:" If you had made a plan to be the man and to be the bes

that you can. To live a life of success, just to know that you're truly blessed. For

everyday that you ahve lived there was something you could have given; give love

to the one and only that has watched over you from above."

But I'm the man alright, the one who saw the light at a young age.

The next chapter comes as I flip the page, to help a brother out before it's to late.
