Hello! You Called?

Hello! I’d like to make a plea

And no it's not about how America’s favorite colour is green

Or the education system is apparently ‘mean”

I’d like to-- yes.. I’ll hold… Hello?

“Your call has been forwarded to an automated voice messaging system.”

Voicemail?

In America it takes 6.6 seconds to make a call..

And one on the other line to pick up..alright then

….Why does it take so long to ‘pick up’ on the shattered and cut call of the

hungry , no the concerned, no the ‘invisible’ crimes that happen to not do their time?

Also as I an African Hispanic American can be scrutinized four different ways

But it can be overlooked because I got “thick thighs”

Maybe my call isn’t being ‘pick up’ because this is a project with guidelines and timelines

And I don’t have enough time to talk about how gentrification has its own mind

Or how it doesn’t care about the stolen African American pride so if I talk about that

All of y’all uncomfortable are going to say “Time!”

So yes Hello! I’d like to make a plea

And yes it’s about how you can’t see the green

Or how the society is making sure you’re not seen

No, my plea is about how my generation’s maturity is hidden behind all these “immature schemes”

And how we are our own happiness thieves.

Expectations are our parents revelations, we read cover to cover on what to do and what not to do

I wonder if this body is my own. Or if I’m just another player in this 6 1 4 telephone.

…. “Yes..may I put you on hold?..” “Your call has been forwarded to a automated voice messaging system”

Stop Calling.
