The heat

I

can take

the heat.

The rays of sun never fail to slow me down

and lighten my head

I lie in wait

for the heat to form a pillow under my head

and a blanket over my body

I slip on the heat as if it were a nightgown

soft and comforting

The sun is my protector

Sending light to brighten my darkest days

Giving me time to think

As sweat forms on my brow and underneath my thighs

I am at peace

I can take the heat.
