This Hat (Smile)

This hat…

It lies on my head

covering up my thoughts of the key to my smiles and happiness

Keeps me bottled up with pictures of envy and rage that I like to keep hidden

This hat…

Is a hat that I’ve stopped wearing physically

but still contains what’s hidden

My little pleasures of simple things

This hat…

The one that I do wear mentally is full of hurt and regret

This hat with memories of unpopularity of what was in,

but popular with whatever I got

and what I was left with was my mind

This mind fueled with jealousy and blues never let me forget to smile

To sit and laugh rhythmically with melodies

Listening to the Charlie Chaplin song of the times that must keep on trying

“That's the time you must keep on trying.

Smile, what's the use of crying?”

What’s the use of crying when our tears are not what we should fight for

We must fight for our happiness to be achieved

We must YELL OUT all of our anger that we think we cannot conquer

We need to find our little happiness that we have kept hidden under our blankets like the child who believes that hiding underneath the covers will keep the monsters away

because it might...

And this child..

this child…

We must

We must

We must be a child

We must relive our childhood

We must not forget who we once were

We were not the ones to leave but the ones who got left

We were not an idea of bad childhoods

But we were the imagination of being perfect

We must give ourselves limitations on what we can do so that we can go passed our goals and strive on what we can really accomplish

Accomplish is to achieve

So achieve this metaphorical vision of our voyage to being happy

Know not to be sad when you weren't asked to prom or the homecoming dance

Be proud that it does not change you completely

It doesn’t take away your old good memories

It may give you a new sad one,

but that’s one sadness out of a potential million smiles throughout a day

As Charlie once said,

“a day without laughter is a day wasted”

Don't waste today for tomorrow

Don't do today what you could do tomorrow

Do what you feel you can do and if there’s a bonus question,

take it and if you fail,

it’s only a bonus

Your failed bonus does not take away what you did manage

What you carried out to do was done and dealt with

You've reached your limits and that's good enough

So never waste a smile,
let it linger

let it last longer than a smoker who’s savoring every last bit of their breath to say that they love you

Your smiles are for you,

that's why it’s on you're face like this mole that’s on mine

So never hide your smile

Laugh when something is funny

A second of happiness and laughter a day is much better than a week full of sorrow
