Hanging on to Something you Can't See

If I had a choice

To only have one thing in life,

I would hope it would my sanity.

Mental Illness has robbed too many people

In my family to count.

Husbands and wives,

Even children now.

If I was ever alone

Or on an island by myself;

I wouldn’t want water nor food,

Shelter nor an escape,

Even my electronics would be put aside

For my mental health to stay intact.

Many people I care about

Are lost within their own mind.

I can’t image being afraid of my own imagination.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
