A Handful of Hope

"A Handful of Hope"

by Matthew Shang

A Caterpillar crept across

The creases of my Hand–

He fondly gazed at golden Leaves–

All waltzing in the Wind–

He journeyed on with gentle Steps

Along my patient Palm–

As Birds began to lullaby

To cradle him in Calm–

He paused upon my Fingertip,

And marveled at the Sky–

His wish to Heaven– soon fulfilled–

To be a Butterfly.
