Hand on your cheek

you place your hand on my cheek

and everything seems to melt away

the dystopia we live in adulterates

as the pillars of greed and mistrust comes crumbling down

like the tear drops from a troubled child’s eye

you place your hand on my cheek

and I feel safe again

safe enough to tell you my secrets

safe enough to give you my life

safe enough to believe in society once more

you place your hand on my cheek

giving me the strength

to speak my mind

the strength to carry

those who can’t stand up

you place your hand on my cheek

and my fears turn obsolete

my dreams become someone else’s

my mind goes beyond the clouds

and my actions result in turbulence

you place your hand on my cheek

when my life becomes an aftermath

of the clash between good and evil

and my world cremates in the light

of the certainty of despair

you place your hand on my cheek

and I place my hand on yours
