Gum

Sat, 11/28/2020 - 17:59 -- CH

I chew on these words until they're gray

And tasteless

Pebbles between my stained teeth

Debris on my tongue

I roll them around to feel them clack

Against my incisors

Cleave them in two and

Spit them out

I pinch the little balls between my fingers

Flat and grooved

Stretch them thin but strong

Elastic to wrap around us
