Guile and beguiled

Romans 12:2   New English Translation

2 Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing

of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—

what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.

The accuser works through the mind; he is well versed in it

He makes us do what he likes, and we don’t even notice

He supplies us shifting attitudes and in positions over changing

He removes our stability as reality becomes short out of focus

He takes away our strength to listen and let thoughts drift through the brain

We become talkative through our old nature, and our tongue loses control

They shed our mind and will, and we become much like a robot

So he pushes just some buttons, and I start playing his preplanned roll

He’ll take it one step farther and brings levels of obstinacy

As so we refuse to listen to reason or irrefutable evidence

After we have made decisions and carved them into stone

The mind has become immobile now and shed all the pretense

It all seems so clear now that the Gospel delivers from sin

As this cleansing happens you’ll be delivered from the devil as well

Why then be afraid of the devil and darkness is ever mentioned?

When the Gospel is preached in power; he should fear like hell
