Grown Up Fairy Tales
I don't believe in happily ever after.
I don't believe in Santa.
I don't believe in love.
I didn't choose to be this way
I didn't choose false hope.
Ever since I was a child it was
"you can be anything"
"all you need is happiness"
Both are subjective lies.
The knight in shining armor won't come.
Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Murphy was no liar.
In a grown up fairy tale Cinderella gets shut down by the prince.
No ball, no love, but instead a deep feeling of disdain.
The Little Mermaid doesn't become human.
Instead she is fed discrimination for her differences.
Sleeping Beauty doesn't wake up.
Prince's kisses don't awaken drug addiction.
Grown up fairy tales are reality.
Snow White is the only woman in a house of 7 men what more do I have to imply?
No matter the story of our princess hate and evil will overtake.
Stereotypes will rot away at every young womans soul.
Don't feed them these lies of happily ever after.
Feed them the truth. Give them armor to get through the battle field called "high school"
Prepare them for the hate. False realities will lead only to abandonment.
Hold on to reality, hold on to logic, and hold on to morals.
Because holding on to hope never led to happily ever after.
