Greatness

You are Destined for Greatness

you are

destined

for

you were born here and your parents there

you were born on the East Side where red is versus blue

you learned Spanish before English

your school had no money for art

your family had no money for new shoes

your neighborhood played gunshots at night

your grandmother feared the police

you are

destined

for

Half the country criminalizes you

America has structurally discriminated against everything that is you

They put you in a ghetto and they say it's simple to

Pick yourself up, work hard, earn your wealth

earn your rights

earn equality

earn a fair chance

run this race with a Weight on your shoulders that is invisible to them

You are Destined for Greatness

you are

destined

for

You are only a Child

Lift This Weight

if not

you will only be destined for failure

America has its great moments, but for the most part it is plagued by modern racism and structural discrimination that destroys lives of innocent people.
