A Great Distance

Alone at night
I note the distance
Count the miles that keep us apart
That separates our two hearts
Most nights it's hard
And to be honest sometimes I just want to give up
Give in to the distance
Because the calls and the texts are just never enough
They never compare to
Your hugs
Your kiss
Your touch
Most nights I'm furious
others my mind a maelstrom of emotion
Of depression
As the miles mock me
As they endlessly torment me
Sometimes I think about the future ahead
What it might mean for us
Will we make it?
Will the distance prove too great?
Will the span of time seal our fate?
Cause as of late I'm unsure
I'm doubting
But I'm hoping
I'm praying
For so much more
