The Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side

It’s time to say goodbye for good-

Never to return.

A small town home with a small town room-

No one to call her own.

The sheltered town holds many cries-

Anger grows as she sits alone.

Dreams grow larger as the date comes closer-

Its finally time to go.

The lifelong dream so close she can taste it-

Sweet like maple syrup from the tree.

Reaching out to find real diversity-

Something new to behold and see.

Shakespearian plays, Broadway shows, theatre classes and sports-

White. Yellow. Black. Green. Gold.-

Colors of all sorts.

Dr. Seuss, Aristotle, Monroe, and Dr. King-

New ideas, brand new hopes-

A change she can highly sing.

A golden voice hid behind a sheltered town,

An actress locked away in her room.

A ready to go, vivacious princess,

A lonely sporty queen.

It’s time to leave her parents behind,

Search for a new way to thrive.

She hears the bells for a brand new day,

She can take off and run-

Jump and jive.
