Graduation Speech

Graduating Class of Past, Present, and Future

This is our moment

Our goal

Since our first day of Kindergarten or Pre-K

This is our goal

To graduate

To make it out

To forget the old daily routines of waking up at 6 am to sleep some more on the ride to school or in the first classes of a long day

We made it!

We’re all here

In front of the people we owe this graduating to

We’re all finally here

And I must admit, there’s a few of us who couldn't make it here

For whatever reason

But they’re in our hearts

The thoughts of graduating has been a dream of every parent and child

We’re all blinded of the happiness of leaving,

but I'm going to miss it

Not for learning because there will always be new things to figure out after high school,

but because of the strong friendships we’ve gained

And the friendships we lost

Drama

High school gossip

High school relationships

I'm going to miss it

From Day one to today we’re done

I’m going to miss everybody

I’ll miss the things we were able to get away with

I’ll miss our childhoods

I’ll regret the people I’ve ignored far too often

I’ll miss the dances

I’ll miss seeing people I’ve known since I was as tall as a yardstick

The times where I was scared to be around too many people

There was never a dull moment

From random fights in the hall to embarrassing moments

It’s not going to happen again for all of us

On final days of class, we rush to leave

I’m always in  the mix of hundreds of kids pushing out the front doors, getting in my car, and saying I’m not looking back

And I might not look back physically but when I remember all we’ve been through,

I’m proud we’re all here

But as we have learned at this moment,

“here” doesn’t last forever even when school did

So after “here”, there's “Will be”

And we will all be headed in different directions

Some may be with a beloved person,

but we all know this is all about each and every one of us specifically

We were united but we figured out who we all were as individuals

That made us stronger

United, we once stood

If we were broken, we would have failed

But now we all stand on our own so we can change the world in our own ways

We must not forget it all started with us

Whether we have made new friends or had others that left,

we had a cycle to rely on

Cycles of friendships, relationships, schoolwork, college applications, jobs, and family

No matter if you were apart of all the cycles or only one,

we made it here

The graduating class of past, present, future, and always
