Goodbye to the Monster Within

Location

Goodbye to the Monster Within

The monsters crawl through the hall

On the prowl for an attack on one and all

The monsters yell and backtalk too

Don’t you dare question what they do

Their nails and hair are always in place

Your hair isn’t perfect; you are a disgrace

The monsters gossip, judge, and complain

Their ways of living are far from humane

Different breeds of monsters - the Jocks, the Plastics, and the Queen

Believe life isn’t fun if they aren’t a little mean

Smashing through their classes, trampling all in their way

Oh, you have flaws; too bad, you’re their first target today

They laugh at the people who don’t always fit in

The Uglys, the Nerds, and those who aren’t thin

They judge books by their covers, those they barely know

Appearance is everything; good personality need not show

No one is safe from the things that they do

We all can be guilty of committing these crimes too

So start with yourself and make a change

Don’t become a monster, all cruel and deranged

Stop this vicious cycle from going round and round

When it comes to teenagers, insecurities abound

Take my advice; I need to make you see

Own up to your part; take responsibility

Must change myself first, that’s most important, you see

Because one of these monsters… just happens to be me
