The Goodbye

Such a dismal, dreary day
No colors bright, no faces gay
All shrouded in a veil of grey
Where in the ground young life we lay
What can I do?
What can I say?
To rid the pain of loss away
Void of glimmered reaching ray
A day so cold the nightmares stay
Life and death in strangled fray
Hold this breath and guide dark way
For all will sin
And dearly pay
Oh for loss, opposed we pray
When our blood from veins we slay
I hear the music, mourning play
From the dust, into clay
I wish once more, our bodies' sway
I plead you, night, return to day
