God Goes On
God goes on each blessed day
From June and July to April and May
God gives life to us all, they say
Day after day,
God goes on.
God goes on each year, I hear
No rent to pay or disease to fear
But plenty of prayers sent for his ear
Year after year,
God goes on.
God goes on past death, I know
Whether its lost little girls or those who want to go
Created in his image, or, well, thought so
Loss after loss,
God goes on.

God goes on causing this, I see
He brings rape and murder and cold almond tea
Doesn’t matter who that victim might be
Pain after pain,
God goes on.
God goes on getting praise—by most
They overlook stillborn babies and thank Him for French toast
“It’s all part of the plan by the great Holy Ghost,”
Sin after sin,

God goes on.
