Glow Up

Young brown girl

Searching the TV

For people like me

Could’nt find any

Young brown girls

With curly hair

Or skin darker than “fair”

So i believed

I was not pretty

’Cause nobody looked

Like me

As the time passed

Like a flower

I blossomed

I accepted my color

And petals

And stem

My coily hair and

Tall height and

blemished skin

So

As i got older

I realized

I am and

Being black is beautiful

And to glow up

Is to love

Yourself
