Glide

The agonizing work, the dream and tears
The lights glow, shimmering in the water beneath me,
I take in a breath,
This is the moment that will change me,
The one I have been waiting for.

Faces stare back at me,
They asses my every move,
My toe pick sticks into the ice,
My feet dance and glide,
The cold air rushes past my face,

This is my chance,
Hands violently slap a staggered rhythm,
Everything goes silent as my legs shoot up into the air,
Soon the music ends and I wait,

My towel brushes the ice from my skates,
My hands slide down the sides of my costume,
The stones sparkle from the light,

I feel beautiful and strong,
I am confident,
Someday I will teach others to be just like me,
That is my dream.
