Give Me a Voice

Fri, 11/09/2018 - 19:15 -- Elise E

I'm tired of walking past
the short kid getting picked on,
Or the homeless man on the street.
Tired of watching politics destroy our world,
Tired of walking past tin cans on the floor.
I'm tired of turning on the news,
only to hear a cacophony of negativity and gunshots.

Give me a voice, so I can spread some love,
And some truth too.
Its time for me to stand.
I cant watch this any more,
And I don't wanna close my eyes.

I wanna keep em wide open,
I wanna yell with all my might.

Ill hold up signs,
Ill walk for miles,

Just to see some people care,
Just to see someone open their eyes.

71 percent of earth surface is water,
But when I open my eyes
We are swimming in crimson blood.

It stains us; our clothes, our stuff,
It reeks, and yet some fail to notice,
Some fail to smell and gaze upon the foul, grotesque battle zone our world has become.

Give me a voice, so I can spread love
And truth, as well
Now, I make my stand,
I will not watch this any longer,
And I refuse to close my eyes;
wide open they will remain.

I will yell with all my might.
Ill hold up signs,
Ill walk for miles,

Just to see some people care,
Just to see someone open their eyes,
That would give me life.
