A Girl Condemned
Location
Your words,
they tear me apart
taking my innocence.
'Just this once'
and a million more.
A promise broken
where's the truth?
On my knees
I beg and plead.
It's not enough
I'm still unseen.
In the dark
I wait for you.
The engine roars
and backs away.
'Oh God please'
I always pray.
Not again,
not today.
On my knees
my body shakes.
Once you leave
I scrub away
all the things
I dare not say.
To this day
I'm not the same.
I am broken
and afraid.
His words,
they never leave.
Deep inside
I feel their pain.
'Once more'
he'd always need.
On my knees
I'd beg and plead.
The tears,
they would stream.
Pulled away
just to spit
oh, the anger
I would face.
The things he did
they make me sick.

The pattern and the haunting melody of this poem is certainly something that will leave a reader unsure of what to think afterwards because it simply leaves you in a state of awe. This poem resonates and echoes in my head even after I've read it. Thank you so much for sending this in. I really like how you've set it up because it gave the poem a different pattern, a different way to read it than it would have if you had not done so.
